Non-standard? What should I sew?
Trying to remember how I started sewing, I’ll say that in 2019 I decided to ground my hobby with sewing courses at the Burda salon. Then, after reinforcing the basics, I realized that all of this interests me more, and after sewing a couple of dresses I got inspired to start sewing hoodies. It seemed simpler and more necessary for everyday life. It turned out that several people around me liked my idea, and that’s how I started sewing them. Because what could be better than clothing that fits you the way you want it and in the color you want?
In parallel, I also learned clothing alterations - replacing zippers, sewing patches, hemming trouser legs and so on.
Not even 2 years passed when my friend asked if I could sew a bag for his bicycle to put a bottle in. Did I know how? No. Can I? Yes, i can!
It turns out that following roughly this principle you can learn and find out quite a lot. Next came the practical part and experience. I started sewing bottle bike bags for myself and others, and after about another 2 years I sewed my first bicycle frame bag. While sewing, I realized that sewing knowledge alone isn’t enough - you also need to start looking for resources to purchase materials so the client doesn’t have to overpay for them.
So right now I’m here - I sew custom-size bags for bicycles, and I also alter clothes. And in between I sew hats, sweatshirts, and the occasional custom project - for example, sewing towels in bulk, covers for a shoe rack or a windowsill that doesn’t fit standard sizes. A balcony wall from 7m Cordura? Let’s sew it!
If you need an individual approach, then you’ve found the right seamstress.
